ALR is a room decision
If the Sony is used in a dedicated dark theater, a neutral white or gray screen may be worth comparing because it avoids some directional ALR trade-offs. If the room is used with lights on, ALR becomes more relevant.

The NothingProjector material's listed 0.8 gain means brightness should be evaluated at the final screen size rather than assumed from projector reputation. Larger screens spread the available light over more area.
Test before replacing an existing screen
If you already own a white screen, place the A4 ALR sample directly over it and compare the same scene with controlled and ambient lighting. That is a clearer decision than comparing photos taken in different rooms.
